Connecting you with me!

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel like a leap into the unknown. My goal is to make that leap feel more like a smooth step forward. Here’s what you can expect when we work together:

  • Starting the Conversation: It all begins with our initial meeting, where I’ll take the time to get to know you—your story, your challenges, and your goals. This is a space for you to share what’s on your mind, at your own pace, without judgment.

  • Personalized Suggestions: I believe therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. After understanding your unique needs, I’ll offer personalized suggestions and strategies that fit your life and what you’re ready to tackle. Whether it’s practical coping tools or deeper emotional processing, we’ll create a plan that feels right for you.

  • Collaborative Treatment Planning: Together, we’ll design a treatment plan tailored to your goals. Think of this as your roadmap—a guide to help us navigate the challenges and celebrate the wins along the way.

  • Checking In and Adjusting: As we move through the process, we’ll regularly check in to see what’s working and what might need adjusting. Therapy is a journey, and flexibility is key to making it impactful and effective.

This isn’t just about therapy sessions—it’s about creating a partnership where you feel empowered, heard, and supported. Let’s connect and start creating the change you’re looking for.

"I was really nervous about reaching out for help—it’s such a big step. But Dr. Thompson made the whole process so much easier. He took the time to understand my concerns and helped me feel at ease. I felt truly supported and in good hands."

FAQs

What is my approach to therapy?

Glad you asked—that’s a big one! I believe therapy is a collaborative process. My role is to meet you where you’re at and help you uncover the tools and strengths you already have within you. I specialize in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR, which means we’ll address the thoughts and patterns that might be keeping you stuck, while also processing any deeper experiences or traumas that may be affecting you today. Think of it as clearing out the mental clutter and making space for real growth.

Do you take insurance?

Yes and no—it depends on your situation. I am credentialed with several insurance providers, including Aetna, Cigna, Medicare, Oxford, United Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente of Northern California, Oscar Health, Anthem Blue Cross California, Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey, Magellan, Kaiser Permanente of Northern California Medicare Advantage, Carelon Behavioral Health, United Healthcare Medicare Advantage, and Quest Behavioral Health.

Insurance can cover a portion of the cost of services, but it often doesn’t fully cover my rate. For example, if my rate for individual therapy is $180 and your insurance reimburses $125, you would be responsible for the remaining balance. Additionally, your copayment (which does not go to me) will also apply.

The exact price for therapy when using insurance will vary depending on your plan and the negotiated rates. If you’d like to use your insurance, I can verify your eligibility and work with you to develop a plan that meets your financial needs while ensuring you receive the care you deserve.

Feel free to reach out for more information or to discuss your options. Together, we can find the best path forward!

How often should i come to therapy?

This depends on your goals and the pace that works for you. To start, weekly sessions are great for building momentum and seeing results faster. Once you feel you’re making progress, we can space things out. Think of therapy like going to the gym—consistency helps, but we’ll tailor the plan to fit your needs and schedule. Whether you’re here for a short sprint or a longer journey, we’ll figure out what feels right together.

What if my partner doesn’t want to come to couples therapy?

You’re not alone—this happens more often than you might think. If your partner isn’t ready to join, it’s still worth coming in on your own. A lot of growth can happen when one person starts making changes, and it might even encourage your partner to come along once they see the positive impact. Remember, change often starts with one, and I’m here to help you work through what’s in your control.

Let me help you seek the care that's right for you.
